Washed sand drainage and grading

Washed sand reaches a collection point with variable water loading. The process needs a defined retained product and a manageable drainage stream.

Equipment evaluation

Evaluate a dewatering screen for the specified sand grading and slurry concentration. An associated belt can transfer drained material only after checking carryback and the receiving chute. A dry classification step is a separate duty.

Conditions and acceptance

Specify solids rate, water flow, fines content and inlet concentration. Agree the method and timing of product-moisture measurement. Identify the drainage destination and account for fines leaving with the water; motor power alone cannot predict moisture.

Balance solids recovery and drainage

Specify both solids feed and water loading, plus the finest fraction that must remain in the product. State where drainage and fines are collected and whether a separate recovery stage is planned. Sample retained product and drainage during a representative run. Do not promise a final moisture value without defined feed and test conditions.
