Production Problems It Solves

Near-size particles entering the wrong grade

Horizontal motion spreads the feed and gives particles repeated contact with the mesh.

Fines reducing the consistency of bagged granules

Isolate fines and oversize from the accepted fraction, so each stream can be packaged or returned separately.

Where It Fits in Your Plant

Silica sand grading

Classify dry sand ahead of grade-specific storage or bagging, keeping mesh selection tied to the required particle distribution.

Fertilizer finishing

Screen dried and cooled granules before packing. Keep fines and large granules on separate rework routes; screening does not correct weak granules that break during later conveying.

How the Gyratory Screen Works

An eccentric drive produces horizontal gyratory movement in the screening box. The motion spreads the incoming feed over the mesh and advances it along the screening surface. Particles smaller than the selected openings pass through, while retained particles continue to their discharge. Deck support, screen cleaning and outlet sealing maintain the separation path.

Selection Factors

  • Feed spread: distribute material across the inlet width before it reaches the screening decks.
  • Near-size particles: mesh contact and residence time matter most when much of the feed is close to the cut size.
  • Fraction isolation: deck seals and discharge channels must keep the separated streams apart.

Applications & Suitable Materials

Silica sand

Material form
Dry sand grains
Typical application
Classify grains into defined fractions
Handling considerations
Moisture, abrasion and screen openings

Fertilizer granules

Material form
Dry formed granules
Typical application
Separate saleable granules from fines and oversize
Handling considerations
Friability and deck loading

Plastic pellets

Material form
Dry pellets
Typical application
Reject oversized pellets and fused particles
Handling considerations
Match apertures to pellet shape and acceptable carryover

Common Issues & Checks

  • Reduced fine-product recovery: inspect blinded mesh and uneven bed depth across the deck.
  • Oversize contamination: inspect mesh edges, damaged cloth and deck seals before adjusting the drive.
