Production Problems It Solves

Surges burying a screen deck

Regulate the material entering the screening stage so the mesh is not overwhelmed by intermittent hopper discharge.

Only the middle of the screen carrying material

A suitable tray width spreads feed across the inlet and makes more of the deck available for separation.

Where It Fits in Your Plant

Screen intake

Feed dry sand, granules or pellets from a buffer hopper onto a screening deck, maintaining a shallower and more even bed.

Conveyor loading

Present a steadier stream to a belt or other receiving machine. Hopper bridging must be addressed at the outlet; tray vibration alone cannot guarantee flow from a poorly discharging bin.

How the Vibrating Feeder Works

Vibratory drives move the tray so particles advance by repeated small movements. The support springs isolate the moving assembly. Motor-driven and electromagnetic feeders use different drives and should not be assigned the same controls or power assumptions.

Selection Factors

  • Hopper interface: outlet size and material head influence tray loading and feed stability.
  • Tray width: spread material across the receiving screen rather than delivering a narrow central stream.
  • Drive type: motor-driven and electromagnetic feeders use different control arrangements.

Common Issues & Checks

  • Surging flow: inspect bridging at the hopper outlet and sudden changes in material head.
  • Weak or uneven tray movement: isolate the equipment and inspect springs, loose mountings and buildup on the tray.

Frequently asked questions

Can a feeder be sized by hourly rate alone?

No. Hopper opening, head pressure, lump size and turndown affect the tray and drive selection.
